Detailed 1/48 scale assembly model kit of the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk, a stealth attack aircraft of the United States Air Force. A product of the ultra secretive Lockheed Skunk Works and commonly called the Stealth Fighter, the F-117 is actually not a fighter at all. In fact, the F-117 is designed to fly at subsonic speeds and is not fitted with air-to-air weapons; the internal bay of the F-117 is designed to carry up to 5,000 Lbs of air-to-ground ordinance. The Nighthawk's distinctive faceted shape was a radical design concept aimed to deflect radar waves thus reducing the overall radar signature of the aircraft, making it possible for the F-117 to reach its target nearly undetected. Despite its productive combat career that spans both Persian Gulf Wars, the F-117 is slated for retirement by 2008 in favor of the more advanced F-22 and F-35. This 1/48 scale model kit exquisitely reproduces the F-117's distinctive faceted shape, and the kit features: Detailed cockpit complete with ejection seat and pilot figure. Detailed internal weapons bay complete with two GBU-27A bombs. Detailed undercarriage. Decals for two aircrafts of the 37th Tactical Fighter Wing, 416 Tactical Fighter Squadron included.
